đ If you have stayed in the US after your J or F immigration status expiry date, youâre automatically staying on the âGrace periodâ status for the first 30 days if the expired status is J or 60 if the expired status is F.
This is will be automatically determined in Sprintax Calculus if you enter an expiry date of your current (most recent) J or F status prior to your departure from US date and the period you have stayed in US after the expiry immigration status date is within 30 or 60 days respectively.
Example: You have entered expiry date for your J1 Student status of 4/1/2025, but US departure date of 4/23/2025. Calculus will automatically calculate you have stayed on J1 Grace period for 22 days after the expiration of J status.
đReporting grace period stays on previous immigration statuses
In order to report Grace period stays for previous immigration statuses accurately in your application, please add a separate status under the "Visits to the US" section.
đ The start date for your Grace period status should be the next day after the end date of the F/J status.
đ The end date should be the departure date from the US or 30/60 days after the start date depending on the type of Grace period (30 days for J status and 60 for F), whichever is earlier.
â ď¸ The system will then ask for the days spent on that Grace period for residency determination purposes. The number of days provided should not be more than the total days between the start and end date of the Grace period status you listed above.
